New Look’s great range of denim shorts is back for the summer. With the weather we’ve had this last weekend it wouldn’t surprise me that these start flying off the shelves pretty soon.
I went for the cheaper end of the scale at £14 for a pair of denim dark blue shorts,slightly longer than the traditional denim hotpants coming a couple of inches above my knee.
The shorts have button detail and stitching pattern across the bottom with fold over back pockets held down by yet more buttons and turnups fnishing off the retro denim look. I’ve tested them out on a number of occasions –going to a one day festival,a friend’s bbq and even teemed them with some heels for a night out. Verdict? Very versatile. Each time the denim worked well for both day and evening wear,and for the variety of activities I was doing.
The shorts seem to be quite flexible and I loved adding my open-toed tan heels and baggy top for a funky evenng look on the town. The darkish colour of the denim meant they didn’t look out of place dressed up and weren’t too casual. For the festival they were great for sitting around lazing on the grass and didn’t mark easily,even managing to hide a ketchup stain (after I succumbed to a hotdog temptation) pretty well.
For those ladies who prefer the longer shorts option,these pants are great as they don’t show too much thigh yet you can still get away with a stylish pair of short denim shorts.
I’ve always been a fan of the denim look and own several pairs of shorts,jeans and even denim jackets. Being able to buy denim at high street prices,and especially for as little as £14 is great,as I wear it so much I’m always needing to replace holy or worn jeans etc.
My shorts have already seen the light of day a couple of times now,fingers crossed they will be seeing much more sun this summer!
