Designers such as Frankie Morello or Gucci’s Frida Giannini, who have created some lushious fashionista cossies, are inspiring beach-goers to opt for the chic look whilst strolling the shores. The Monokini is here.
I wrote a little post a few months back on swimsuit styles –the one-piece,two-piece or style-piece and have recently come to learn the newly coined term Monokini. This refers to the style-piece costume I talked about in my earlier blog post and so I thought it an interesting piece to bring up again.
The monokini is often also referred to as a trikini and is the latest beachwear trend to hit the catwalks. A monokini is generally one piece of lycra fabric with cut out panels, plunging necklines, straps, midriff exposure or all of the above. This fashionable swimwear is not for the faint hearted. Good on you if you have the confidence, posture or body to show it off on the beach.
Monokinis are ideal items of swimwear for those fashion-conscious followers of style, but may cause havoc for sun worshippers as strange tan lines and shapes on the skin abound. Bronzing your bod has never been harder with the monokini, just make sure to wear plenty of suncream!
The above swimsuit is available in Dorothy Perkins, priced at £20.
