If you want to really get into your designer names and haute couture styles, there is no better French fashion icon than Yves Saint Laurent.
Born in 1936,he was,and still is,one of the greatest names in the fashion industry. As a young stylist in Paris,Saint Laurent’s growth can largely be proported to a man named Michel de Brunhoff,at the time editor-in-chief of the Paris edition of Vogue. It was,in fact de Brunhoff who encouraged Saint Laurent to become a fashion designer after a chance meeting through a comeptition, and de Brunhoff who introduced Yves Saint Laurent to Christian Dior. Dior hired the young stylist on seeing some of his sketches for the couture collection.
After the death of Christian Dior in 1951,one of the world’s most renowned global fashion designers,Saint Laurent took up the head position at House of Dior, making his mark on the fashion industry. His collections in later years included tailored suits and shift dresses, inspired by an earlier haute couturier Charles Frederick Worth.
Yves Saint Laurent had a massive influence on fashion today and extended his designer range to include perfume and make-up. The immensely talented stylist died in 2008 in Paris but his name lives on through the fantastic range of catwalk creatives and sumptuous designs we see today.

YSL has had such a big influence on the whole of the fasion industry from Jewellery to Clothing. I for one love YSL products and will continue to support the brand well into the future, not only for being original, but for making products that last.
What a great resource!
